Pool steps repair (fiberglass)

Fiberglass is a highly durable material despite being lightweight. It is completely waterproof and resistant to UV rays, extreme temperatures (very hot and very cold), and abrasives. Fiberglass pool steps can last up to fifty years when properly maintained and repaired when needed.

In the event of cracks or breaks, water can seep beneath the fiberglass layer and quickly damage it (formation of osmotic blisters that turn into craters, delamination, etc.). It is therefore important not to delay repairs to your pool steps.

Concrete pool cracks

Repairing cracks in an inground pool’s concrete is typically done by injecting polyurethane or epoxy. Metal injection ports are used to insert the material into the crack at a 45-degree angle. Caution: the product must be injected without excessive pressure, as this could create microcracks in your pool steps.

For structural cracks (larger cracks located in the pool shell), epoxy is recommended. This product effectively seals cracks in large structures, allowing the concrete to continue supporting weight properly. Structural cracks are more likely to cause water leaks and may be vertical or horizontal.
